The management of Taraba State University has set up a committee to conduct staff headcount, biometric Verification and Certificates Verification. 



The management in a letter dated 31st May 2024 and signed by the registrar of the University Mr. Joseph U Bibinu Stated that "This is to inform all categories of staff members  in the university that there will be headcount/biometric capturing and sighting of certificates." The circular read.


Taraba News gathered that the screening is scheduled to start from 3rd June, 2024  the period will take, members of the screening committee to the 8th of June 2024 at the Council Chambers DDI senate building, TSU from 10:00am to 5:00 pm daily. 


The Screening, Taraba News believes it is in response to the allegation by Gov. Kefas at the last media chat in which the governor alleged that the list submitted to him for payment of outstanding salaries contained names of ghost workers, the governor said this while responding to questions by journalist on rumour of pending strike by the Varsity Lecturers. The governor at that meeting promised to pay the Outstanding Salaries but also warned the Lecturers against threatening him with strike.


In another development the Management of Taraba State University has banned all form of collection of all dues, in whatever disguise by lecturers, department and unit.


This decision was reached at the 67th Regular senate held on May 30th, 2024.


According to the circular released by the Office of the Registrar, Joseph U. Bibinu, FCPA, dated 31st May 2024, this prohibition encompasses all forms of dues collection, whether conducted directly by staff or through proxies. This development builds upon previous circulars issued on October 17th, 2022, and June 23rd, 2023, addressing similar concerns.


Moving forward, the responsibility for collecting dues from student associations will rest solely with the respective student bodies. The university administration has underscored the importance of compliance, warning that any staff or proxies found collecting dues will face appropriate sanctions.


In light of these measures, all deans, directors, heads of departments, faculty officers, administrative officers, and other stakeholders are urged to ensure strict adherence to the ban on due collection until further notice.
