The North-East Zonal Director of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr. Yakubu Suleiman, accompanied by the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Echuseh Audu, and other officials, paid a courtesy visit to the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS).
During the visit, Mr. Suleiman emphasized the major role of NEMA in augmenting the efforts of SEMA in each state. He also expressed his appreciation to His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, and the "Moving Forward" administration for their role in curbing insecurity in the state.
Mr. Suleiman highlighted that Taraba State is often prone to excessive rainfall, which frequently results in the contamination of drinking water and floods in farmlands, leading to food shortages.
In response, the SGS referenced His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas's initiative to address these issues through borehole drilling and the implementation of a rainwater harvesting system. This system is part of the World Bank's ACReSAL project aimed at mitigating floods in farmlands.
The SGS assured that they would convey the message to His Excellency and work towards strengthening collaboration between the state and federal governments.
