Strike Threat Does Not Stop WASSCE Exams

The Taraba State Controller of The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) explained that his organization has remained resolute in its decision to proceed with the conduct of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates 2024, despite the indefinite strike declared by the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) starting from Monday, 3rd June, 2024.

He stated this as a follow-up to a statement released by the WAEC headquarters  Management which emphasized that the examination will continue as scheduled in all member countries of WAEC, including Nigeria.

The decision was made to ensure that Nigerian students do not face any disadvantage of missing the important examination.

The statement was made so all stakeholders including school principals, parents, Ministry officials, supervisors, invigilators, and the general public to take action as they are all urged to take note of this decision and make necessary arrangements for candidates to sit for the examination.

The Branch Controller of WAEC in Taraba State has assured that the examination will proceed as planned, despite the strike action. All parties involved are advised to adhere to the directives given.

The WAEC Management expresses gratitude to all involved and seeks divine protection over the candidates as they undertake this crucial examination.
