COALITION OF PDP SUPPORT GROUPS PRESS RELEASE

The Acting National Chairman of the PDP,

The National Working Committee of PDP,

The Taraba State Chairman of the PDP,

The Executive Governor of Taraba State,

PDP Stakeholders within and outside Taraba State,

The Media Team assembled here,

Ladies and gentlemen,

100 PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC PARTY GROUPS SUPPORT JABIR MAIHANCI FOR JALINGO, YORRO, ZING FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY'S PDP TICKET.

In light of the recent victory of the late Hon. Ismai’la Maihanci of the PDP in the 2023 election, after 12 years of opposition dominance, it is clear how widely accepted the PDP candidate was. To regain the seat for PDP, we must present an acceptable candidate for the Jalingo Yorro Zing federal Constituency's seat rerun election.

Taking into consideration the issues raised and the need to secure victory in the rerun election, we, the coalition of PDP support groups who believe in the ideology of Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas, and the principles of mutual coexistence exhibited by the late Ismai’la Maihanci in uniting our people towards securing the seat for PDP.

After thorough research, deliberations, and consultations across the 3 local government areas of Jalingo, Yorro, and Zing federal constituency, and considering the ethno-religious diversity of our dear Constituency as a critical factor, we have arrived at a solution. This solution will help us find an acceptable candidate capable of securing the seat for PDP once more. We hereby resolve and declare the following:

1. We sincerely appreciate the PDP leadership, led by Taraba State's Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for considering the zoning of the PDP ticket to Jalingo, the hometown of the late Ismai’la Maihanci, the elected Representative for Jalingo Yorro Zing federal constituency. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.

2. The Party's leadership should carefully consider Jabir Maihanci, a dedicated PDP member who played a pivotal role in the late Ismai’la Maihanci's political endeavors. Jabir continues to uphold the principles and values championed by the late Ismai’la, garnering support from all three local governments. This makes Jabir the only grassroots candidate widely accepted.

3. Jabir Maihanci stands out as a politician who holds no political animosities, both within the PDP and among the opposition. Following Ismaila's untimely passing, Jabir emerged as the beacon of hope for everyone who cast their votes in favor of Ismai’la Maihanci during the polls.

4. We urge the national leadership of our esteemed party, the PDP, along with all relevant party stakeholders, to create a platform for political negotiations. This will help build an inclusive campaign strategy to secure Jabir Maihanci as the elected Representative for the PDP in all three local governments that make up the Jalingo Yorro Zing federal constituency.

5. Drawing from firsthand grassroots information regarding Jabir Maihanci's popularity and acceptability, there is unanimous agreement that he possesses the potential and capability to secure victory for the People's Democratic Party in the rerun election. Jabir is the most widely recognized aspirant among all candidates vying for the Jalingo Yorro Zing federal Constituency's seat.

Conclusion

We have the utmost hope and confidence that this resolution represents the singular and definitive path to victory for the party in the upcoming Jalingo Yorro Zing federal constituency rerun election, unless effectively challenged with concrete facts and figures. We wish to convey, with humility, the widely held opinion and unwavering commitment of the grassroots to take decisive action if Jabir Maihanci is chosen as the PDP candidate. Nonetheless, should our research not be acknowledged, it may significantly reduce PDP's prospects in the rerun election, rendering all efforts to reclaim the seat after 12 years ultimately futile.
