The member representing Karim One in the Taraba State House of Assembly has refuted reports online that he has resigned from his position as a member of the Taraba State House of Assembly following his nomination by the Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, as the Commissioner for Tertiary Education.
Speaking to Taraba News yesterday, Hon. Mike Dio stated that he has not yet resigned as there are processes yet to follow, including his screening by the State House of Assembly. "As you know, every commissioner nominee by the governor must be screened by the House of Assembly, and the House can accept or reject the nomination. This is yet to be done."
Though Mike Dio did not rule out the possibility of resignation tomorrow, he insists that there are procedures to be followed before the resignation.
You will recall that in a press release signed by the Secretary to the Government of Taraba State, Chief Barr. Gebon Kataps, dated April 15, 2025, Dr. Agbu Kefas approved the appointment of Dr. Mike Dio Jen as Commissioner of Tertiary Education.
In the same release, the governor also dissolved the Ministry of Youth and Sports and established the Taraba State Youth Development Agency and the Taraba State Sports Commission.
