Taraba State Government warns principals to desist from extorting 10,000 Naira from students for WAEC/NECO.

The Taraba State Government has frowned upon reports suggesting that principals are collecting the sum of N10,000 from students who are sitting for WAEC and NECO exams in the state, despite the state government covering all exam fees for students under Governor Agbu Kefas's free education policy. The warning was contained in a letter from the Taraba State Post-Primary Schools Management Board addressed to all zonal directors and principals of schools across the state. The letter read in part: "Following information reaching the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, as well as the Post-Primary Schools Management Board, that some principals have adopted the habit of extorting students by charging them the sum of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000.00) and above as administrative charges for WAEC/NECO without consulting the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the TSPPSMB, and their respective school's PTA. In light of the above, the principals are hereby warned to desist from such an ugly act and are advised to come together and support the administration of Dr. Agbu Kefas's free and compulsory education for all Tarabians. Any principal found guilty will face appropriate disciplinary action."
