Chairman board of Hotels meets Hotel Owners and managers

The Chairman of the State Board of Hotels,Hon. Bashir Bakari Kauran Mambilla, had meeting with hotel owners and managers and emphasized the need for excellence in the hospitality industry to drive the state's growth.

 He made this emphasis during an emergency meeting with hotel owners and managers, where he acknowledged the sector's pivotal role in shaping the state's economic and social landscape.

The hospitality industry provides employment opportunities, boosts tourism, and significantly contributes to internally generated revenue. However, the Chairman noted challenges, including high electricity costs from Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) and multiple taxation.

Assuring hotel owners these concerns are being taken seriously, he stated the administration of Dr. Agbu Kefas is committed to creating an enabling business environment. The sustainability of the hospitality sector is closely linked to the state's economy and image.

To address these challenges, the State Board of Hotels will engage relevant authorities to advocate for fairer electricity billing practices and review the taxation framework to eliminate unnecessary duplications. The Chairman emphasized commitment to partnership, ensuring the Association's representation in key decision-making processes affecting the industry.

The meeting aimed to address challenges impacting hotel growth and profitability, exploring solutions like policy reforms, infrastructure improvement, and enhanced collaboration between hotel owners and government agencies.
