The Governor of Taraba state, Dr Agbu Kefas, was presented with reports this Tuesday concerning the activities of Africa Nature Investors at the Gashaka Gumti National Park.
During his presentation to Governor Agbu Kefas at the Exco Chamber, TY Danjuma House, ANI's Executive Director, Mr. Tunde Morakinyo, outlined their vision for the state, emphasizing effective management of the Gashaka Gumti National Park, driving state development, and attracting investors through the Park.
He highlighted the features of the Park and the various species that distinguished it from others, adding that it's very strategic to the country.
Mr Tunde Morakinyo raised the alarm over unwholesome activities such as bush burning, illegal mining, hunting and cattle rustling, which are threatening the effective management of the Park.
Speaking of their achievements at the park, the ANI's Executive Director mentioned improved infrastructures at the park, provision of an internet network, GPS at the park, solar lights, access to water, provision of 11 vehicles and a helicopter for operations in the park.
To address the problem of poverty, Mr Tunde Morakinyo said ANI collaborated with various NGOs and empowered Women who are now in several economic activities.
He disclosed that ANI is working on building schools with hydraform bricks to support their host community.
He solicited the support of the State government and said they would sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the State government to formalize their activities.
