Chieftaincy Tussle: Ucha Sub-Clan reiterates call on Chief Baka’s removal, cites reasons By Our Reporter.

The Ucha Sub-Clan of Ukum, Tiv extraction in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State has reiterated her call for the removal and immediate replacement of the President General of Tiv Cultural and Social Association (TSCA) Chief James Chihi Baka with Mr. Jacob Tsavlaha.

The Groups call follows the rejoinder by Tiv Traditional Leaders Council of Taraba State, rejecting her call for the removal/immediate replacement of the TSCA General President.

In a Press Release signed and made available to Newsmen in Jalingo the Taraba State Capital by Baba Kyamande, elders Emberga and Orbuter Mom, the group cited unnecessary Press briefings without consultation with the Association’s Exco, Usurpation of all the functions of the Exco of the Association who are representatives of their respective Clans and that of some Local Government Exco which led to multiple Litigations and hostilities among the Tiv people of Taraba State, Unilateral/illegal installation of Ter Wukari, Ter Ibi and Ter Karim-Lamido, Inability to resolve the Chieftaincy tussle in Wukari and Ibi LGAs which has already taken a crisis dimension, and the creation of leadership problem between Ukum and Shitile in Bantaje ward of Wukari LGA among other things as reasons culminating  for his removal and replacement.

“With reference to our call for the removal/replacement of the President General, Tiv Cultural and Social Association, Chief James Chihi Baka on the 21st of March, 2025 and the subsequent rejoinder by the Tiv Traditional Leaders Council of Taraba State on the 22nd of March, 2025 we (Ucha Sub-Clan) wishes to state thus;

“That contrary to the contention of the Tiv Traditional Council of the State, the said call was constitutional and solidly based on the grounds earlier supplied. Secondly, that the Ucha Sub-Clan still maintains her grounds that Chief James Chihi Baka’s Leadership style, constitutes a flagrant abuse and total breach of the TSCA’s constitution. Thirdly, that the Ucha Sub-Clan remains in the best position to champion Chief Baka’s removal/replacement, being his primary jurisdiction.

“In line with the above, Ucha Sub-Clan reiterate her call for the removal and immediate replacement of Chief Baka with Mr. Jacob Tsavlaha,” the statement reads in parts.
