Taraba Commissioner of Information Speaks on Deputy Governor’s Health, Dismisses Impeachment Moves.

The Taraba State Government has officially addressed concerns surrounding the health of the Deputy Governor, who has been absent from public functions since November 2024.

Speaking at a press briefing shortly after the State Executive Council meeting, the government revealed that the Deputy Governor suffered a stroke, which temporarily affected his speech. However, he is currently recuperating and is expected to resume duties soon.

The government also cautioned against attempts by certain individuals to instigate impeachment proceedings through the courts or the State Assembly. It emphasized that the law does not stipulate a specific duration for a deputy governor to be away due to health reasons.

The government urged the public to disregard speculations and allow the Deputy Governor the necessary time for recovery.

Speaking to the media, the Commissioner of Information and Re-orientation, Barr. Zainab Usman Jalingo, said it is normal for human beings to fall sick. She urged the people of the state to pray for the Deputy Governor, who is already recuperating at a hospital in Egypt.

The Commissioner of Health, Dr. Bordiya Buma, said he visited the Deputy Governor at the request of the State Executive Council personally at a hospital in Egypt and confirmed that the Deputy Governor suffered from a stroke that affected his speech. He, however, gave the assurance that the Deputy Governor is already recuperating and will soon return to his duties.
