Governor Kefas Honors Jenjo Culture, Confirms Federal Recognition of Mihu Festival




Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Governor of Taraba State, has revealed that the Mihu Cultural Festival has officially been added to Nigeria's National Calendar of Festivals.


Speaking at the 2025 edition of the festival held in Jen, Karim Lamido Local Government Area, Governor Kefas commended the Jenjo people for their consistent efforts in preserving their cultural heritage.


In hsi address, delivered by the Honourable Commissioner of Heritage and Eco-Tourism, Hon Joseph Titus Nagombe, the Governor applauded the efforts of stakeholders and traditional leaders, particularly Major General B.R. Sinjen and other prominent figures from Jenjo communities in promoting peace, unity, and cultural preservation in Taraba state.


"Following last year’s Mihu Cultural Festival and after observing the unique cultural dances, cuisine, and rich traditions of the Jenjo people, I, through the Taraba State Ministry of Heritage and Eco-Tourism, formally submitted the Mihu Cultural Festival to the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Creative Economy, and Tourism".

Governor Kefas stated.


 "I am pleased to announce that the Mihu Cultural Festival has been recognized and is now published in the National Calendar of Festivals" He further noted.


The Governor also encouraged the Jenjo community to remain committed, suggesting that future occasions may allow them to represent Nigeria on national and international stages.


In addition to the cultural strides, the Governor used the occasion to emphasize his administration's dedication to infrastructure development. He divulged that a reputable Chinese construction company, CCEC, has been contracted to execute road construction project around Karim. 


"The survey and Bill of Quantity have already been completed and submitted," he added.


He concluded by calling on the community to maintain peace, which he identified as essential for meaningful development, while assuring that his government is committed to the overall progress of Taraba State.
