The Chairman Taraba State Special Taskforce Committee on Environmental Protection, Public Safety and Prohibition of Deforestation retired Brigadier General Jeremiah Aliyu Faransa has uncovered a huge depot of carbon black popularly known as charcoal in chediya village, of Wukari Local Government Area.
The discovery was made during an intensive routine patrol aimed at reducing ills done to the environment and the menace of deforestation and mining activities in the state.
"Over time, I have been urging the people of the state to refrain from causing and damaging the ecosystem which has adverse effects on both human, plants and animals as a result of global warming that we're now facing"
He said the future of the younger and upcoming generation should not be destroyed because of stipend that will have nor little effect on our livelihood as a means of existence and survival.
Faransa added that chediya has now become a hub of charcoal production warning the residents to avoid destroying the government reserve forest west of the village.
The Chairman said severally, operatives of the STF have sounded warning about destroying the government reserve forest adding that the degree of charcoal production is becoming alarming advising the people to have a rethink of their actions towards their lives and that of their unborn generation.
While on the patrol, the retired General met with the 6 Brigade Commander Brigadier General Uwa on a routine patrol giving a security hope, sense of belonging and a sigh of relief to the people of the area.
The duo (Generals) discusses at length on security matters in the state to support Governor Agbu Kefas while both the entourage of retired General Faransa and that of 6 Brigade Commander watches keenly at their lowered conversation.
