Military closing in on notorious terrorist leader.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has disclosed that the military is closing in on notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji, who has been terrorizing communities in northwestern Nigeria.

Turji’s group, known for its activities in Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto states, has been responsible for abductions, killings, and other heinous crimes against those who resist their demands.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, on Tuesday, General Musa revealed that significant progress has been made in the campaign against Turji and his network.

He confirmed that several of Turji’s commanders have been eliminated, and key informants and arms suppliers linked to the group have been arrested.

“Since he knows we’ve been after him, he has gone underground, but we are conducting operations to apprehend him,” General Musa stated.

Adding that, “We have been systematically targeting everyone close to him—those providing support in any capacity. We’ve neutralized his commanders. It’s just a matter of time before we catch him.”

The Defence Headquarters, according to him, has intensified its operations against terrorist groups in the region, including another group known as the Lakurawa bandits.

General Musa emphasized that communities harboring these criminals will face repercussions, underscoring the military’s zero-tolerance approach to collaboration with bandits.

The defence chief expressed confidence in the ongoing efforts to bring Turji to justice, reiterating that the military remains resolute in its mission to restore peace and security to affected areas.
