MBSE: FMDM COMMENCES WORKSHOP TO STUDENTS AND TEACHERS

 



The Damietta Peace Initiative commenced a 3day workshop to some selected students and teachers across Taraba State.


The workshop was officially flagged off by the leadership of the ministry under Honourable Commissioner Dr Augustina Godwin and the Permanent Secretary Alh. Idris A. Goje.


Damietta Peace Initiative works to form and nurture PACTs (Pan African Conciliation Teams) through training provided in grassroots communities across Africa so that diversity is respected, appreciated and celebrated and collaboration with groups of similar vision and mission is engendered, in order to promote a culture of non-violence as an instrument of personal conversion and societal transformation.


The workshop is for both selected students and teachers (2 students and 2 teachers from each selected schools) and after the training, they will go back into their schools and set-up Peace Conciliation Clubs with the teachers as patrons and trained students as conveners.


The nature of the training is participatory, interactive and experiential. It will used various scenarios, role-plays, group work, brainstorming and plenary to digest the topics and then produces change in perception, behaviors/attitude and impact in the participants new skills and knowledge, which the participants will go back to their schools and regularly step it down.


Some of the topics to be covered include: Building a resilient culture, social cohesion, context analysis, identifying community threats, risky behaviours and drugs misuse, affirmation and self-esteem which will mark the objective of the workshop which is to prevent and reduce violence and abuse by students and teachers in secondary schools in Taraba State.
