Cost of living is killing, Tarabans lament over hike in price of goods and services _~ There is need to Kick Start Kefas Palliative Market_

Tarabans have shown their displeasure over the high cost of living in the state, lamenting that it is unbearable.

This is in response to the outrageous hike in the prices of food and other commodities due to the declining economic situation of the country.

Tarabans who engaged the report on Taraba News Online social media platforms expressed their displeasure, revealing how they can no longer keep up with purchase of the goods they use regularly due to the ridiculous increase in prices of commodities.

Expressing their dissatisfaction, a Facebook user, @Rekus Friday state that It's disheartening to see how Tarabans themselves contribute to the difficulties we face as a people. Having toured all the states in the Northeast, it’s evident that Taraba, especially the business community, lacks proper regulation. Prices of commodities are set arbitrarily by traders, making life even harder for the average person.

Food prices are outrageously high, even for local produce that doesn’t involve transportation costs—this is nothing short of exploitation. The transportation sector is no better; fares continue to skyrocket unchecked. Take, for instance, the cost of Keke NAPEP services—it’s exorbitant, and no one seems to be addressing it.

A glaring example is the difference in transport fares. Traveling from Wukari to Jalingo is much more as expensive as Jalingo to Yola, yet the distances are nearly the same. This imbalance highlights the lack of proper regulation, which stifles economic growth.

Part of the blame lies with some residents who prioritize living a flashy, unsustainable lifestyle while struggling to make ends meet. This mindset does more harm than good to our collective progress.

I’ll stop here before I "scatter the table" completely, but these issues need serious attention if we want Taraba to thrive.

@Chinedu Philip said  “Everything. Absolutely everything you can think off” “Common Gari ( German sand), has become so essential and no longer staple food.

Market Survey shows that traders set their profit margin at above 40%, because buyers have not alternative. This high profit margin is the major cause of high inflation in Taraba State.

Tarabans call on the Government to provide a suitable solution to reduce the high cost of living in the state.
