TSCHIA FLAGS OFF TSHIP FOR TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN TARABA STATE By Lynn Adda


The Taraba State Contributory Health Insurance Agency (TSCHIA) has flagged off Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TSHIP) in the State.


The flag off ceremony took place on Thursday at the College of Nursing and Midwifery Jalingo.


This is contained in a Press Release signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Agency, Mr Artimas Ezra made available to Journalists in Jalingo, the Taraba State Capital.



The Taraba State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Bordiya G. Buma who unveiled the TSHIP said the Governor of Taraba State Dr. Agbu Kefas is committed to providing quality and accessible health care services to all Tarabans.


The Commissioner noted that the TSHIP totally aligns with the Programmes and policies of the Governor, commending the Executive Secretary of the TSCHIA Pharm. Jacobs Akenzukpi and his staff for the initiative and urged them to ensure the sustainability of the programme.



In their good will messages, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health Dr. Harmony Chufor, Permanent Secretary Health Service Management Board Dr.Hammed Kara, State Coordinator National Health Insurance Authority Alh. Aminu Ardo represented by the Head of Finance and Administration, Mrs Stella Jacob, Executive Secretary TSPHDA Dr. Tukura Nigwa and the Chief Medical Director Specialist Hospital Jalingo Dr. Alex Maiangwa represented by Dr. Ahmed Mustapha all commended the initiative of the TSHIP and advised the students to take advantage of the programme to access free Health care service.


They charged the students of the College to maintain the discipline and integrity of the medical profession.

According to them, the TSHIP has come at the right time considering the economic hardship in the country, adding that the programme will bring succour to all students in tertiary institutions.


Earlier in his address of welcome, the Executive Secretary of the Taraba State Contributory Insurance Agency(TSCHIA) Pharm. Jacobs Akenzukpi appreciated Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas for supporting the Agency in achieving its mandate.


Pharm Akenzukpi revealed that the TSHIP is an initiative that would impact positively in the lives of all students in tertiary institutions across the state.


Giving an overview of the programme, Dr. Echuseh Audu explained that students are expected to pay a little amount of money as registration per session to access the free medical services for the whole session



On her part, the Provost College of Nursing and Midwifery Jalingo Mrs. Esther Danjuma Gana appreciated the Commissioner of Health, Dr.Bodia G. Buma and the Executive Secretary TSPHDA Pharm. Jacobs Akenzukpi for choosing to flag off the TSHIP at the college.

Other dignitaries from the College of Nursing and Midwifery Jalingo that graced the event include the Deputy Provost Academy, Dr. Dorcas Dugule, the Registrar Mrs. Edina P. Anuye, the Director Clinic in charge of TSHIP, Mrs. Esther Nuhu Nyaga and the Director Nursing Services, Ministry of Health, Mrs. Deborah Joseph Agabi.
