The entire Yandang Youths in Taraba State, under the umbrella of the Yandang Youths Development Congress (YYDC), have expressed their deep displeasure and anger over the conduct of Hon. Soke Danladi Ahmadu, PDP Treasurer of Taraba State, for allegedly abusing his office and using intimidation tactics. He reportedly coerced the PDP 100% Loyal Group into issuing a suspension letter to the Northern Zone Chairman of the PDP 100% Loyal Group, Hon. Dallas Edward Gurabi.
This action is not just a gross misconduct, but an outright abuse of power. It reeks of political desperation, showing Hon. Soke Danladi Ahmadu's willingness to ruin the reputation of anyone standing in his way. His misuse of his position to settle personal scores sets a dangerous precedent in the PDP leadership that should be alarming to all well-meaning members of the party. His actions are unconstitutional, uncivilized, and a direct assault on democratic principles. He has not only undermined the PDP’s constitution but has also flagrantly violated the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by targeting an individual for personal reasons that have no connection to the PDP or the PDP 100% Loyal Group.
We want to make it clear that since Nigeria's return to democracy in 1999, the Yandang people of Taraba State have always stood firmly with the PDP, consistently voting in overwhelming numbers. This loyalty was evident again in the 2023 general elections, where PDP secured a landslide victory in Lau Local Government Area thanks to Yandang votes. Ironically, Hon. Soke Danladi Ahmadu, whose ward was lost to an opposition party, now enjoys his position as PDP Treasurer because of the same Yandang votes he seems so eager to disregard.
The YYDC condemns in the strongest terms the decision by the PDP 100% Loyal Group to suspend Hon. Dallas Edward Gurabi without any valid reason or even affording him a fair hearing. This decision, which was clearly driven by Hon. Soke Danladi Ahmadu’s personal interests, is not in the best interest of the PDP or its members. No substantial evidence has been presented to justify such a suspension, further exposing the pettiness and self-serving motives behind it. What offense has Hon. Dallas committed other than being a challenge to someone who can’t handle opposition?
It’s obvious that the suspension of Hon. Dallas is a personal vendetta, not a decision made for the good of the group. This is a desperate attempt to suppress and blackmail both Hon. Dallas and the Yandang community. Hon. Soke Danladi Ahmadu’s actions show that he lacks the integrity and moral authority to hold such a position in the party. If this continues unchecked, it will alienate loyal members and destroy the unity of the PDP.
We, the Yandang Youths, have full confidence in the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas. We are therefore appealing to the Taraba State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, and the PDP State Working Committee to intervene in this matter. We believe this injustice was carried out without their prior consent, and they must act swiftly to bring Hon. Soke Danladi Ahmadu to order before more harm is done.
Lastly, we have learned that Hon. Soke Danladi Ahmadu has continued his vendetta by directing the Ward Chairman of Donnada Ward to issue yet another suspension letter targeting Hon. Dallas Edward Gurabi, this time attempting to remove him from the PDP at the ward level. This blatant abuse of power will not be tolerated. We, the Yandang Youths, will resist this injustice. An injury to one is an injury to all, and we will not allow personal ambition to tarnish the reputation of our brother, Hon. Dallas Edward.
