TARABA STATE STANDS IN SOLIDARITY WITH BORNO OVER DEVASTATING FLOOD DISASTER

A high-powered envoy from Taraba State, led by Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Kizito Bonzena, has demonstrated the state's commitment to standing with Borno State in times of need. The delegation's visit to Maiduguri was a heartfelt gesture of sympathy and support following the devastating flood that ravaged the city, claiming lives and destroying properties.

Upon arrival, the delegation, comprising National Assembly members and traditional rulers, was warmly received by Borno State Deputy Governor, Dr. Umar Kadafur, and state executive council members. Bonzena conveyed Governor Agbu Kefas' deepest sympathies and reassured Borno State of Taraba's unwavering support, emphasizing the brotherly bond between the two North East states.

The delegation's visit was not limited to official meetings; they also took the time to assess the damage firsthand. Visiting the affected Shehu of Borno palace and Taraba indigenes in Maiduguri, they witnessed the devastating impact of the flood on communities.

In a sheer show of brotherly love and solidarity, Governor Agbu Kefas donated ₦175 million to support the affected communities. This generous gesture serves as a testament to Taraba State's commitment to standing with Borno State during this challenging period.

The recent flood disaster in Borno State was triggered by the overflow of water from Alau Dam, approximately 10 kilometers from Maiduguri city center. This devastating event has left many families without homes, livelihoods, and, tragically, loved ones.
