Hon. Iliya Kefas: Leading the Charge for a Cleaner and Healthier Taraba State

 

Hon. Iliya Kefas, the Coordinator of Operation Keep Taraba Clean, has demonstrated remarkable foresight, a quality that many did not recognize until his appointment to this role. Before becoming the State Coordinator, he had been voluntarily keeping the state capital clean for years. Those aware of his efforts were impressed, particularly given that he was not on salary or officially appointed. It is rumored that he was supported by well-meaning individuals who appreciated his commitment and unwavering dedication to maintaining the cleanliness of the state capital.

In line with the vision of Dr. Agbu Kefas, known for rewarding hard work, consistency, and dedication to service, Hon. Iliya Kefas was appointed as the State Coordinator. His appointment expanded the operation to include other local government areas, furthering the reach of the cleanliness initiative. A few months after his appointment, workers were engaged across various local government areas, creating additional job opportunities—a key promise highlighted in the current administration's campaign.

However, following his appointment, complaints about the coordinator began to emerge from different quarters. Some believe that the exercise has become lucrative simply because the current administration has shown interest in working with him, aligning with his vision and commitment. Notably, these complaints did not arise when his efforts were purely voluntary.

This is not to say that Hon. Iliya Kefas does not face challenges; he certainly does. However, he remains encouraged by the criticism from those who were not involved when the initiative was first conceived. While some may argue that the desired results have not yet been fully achieved, it is evident that he is doing his best.

I encourage everyone to join hands in keeping the state clean. This responsibility does not rest solely on the Coordinator of Operation Keep Taraba Clean; it is a collective duty. We must be mindful of where we dispose of our refuse and unused items. Let us support the governor’s efforts and help Hon. Iliya Kefas continue his drive and passion for a hygienic Taraba State.
