The Taraba State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in partnership with the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) today 4th April 2024 handed over a solar powered borehole initiated and completed by the project.
The borehole is located around the Galadima Muri residence, where it was handed over to the community for use.
During the visit, the Honourable Commissioner, Hajiya Aishat Barde announced a tree planting campaign that has kicked started with the growing of seedlings at various nurseries across the 16 local government in the state while ACReSAL is working on reviving and running 6 seedlings nurseries within Taraba State.
The Honourable Commissioner outlined that the tree planting campaigns shall be carried out in phases as the rainy season begins. She proclaimed that "there is no better technology for control of climate change than tree planting," and that is the philosophy behind the government's desire for tree planting.
In his remarks, the Galadima Muri thanked God Almighty for making it possible for the project to come to reality, he also thanked the State government for the installation of the solar powered borehole in his community particular and across other parts of the state. The Royal father also praised the tree planting campaigns embarked on in the state, and promised to give the government the maximum support needed for the project to be a total success.
Afterwards, the Honourable Commissioner and her team inspected some of the seedlings nursery sides and solar powered boreholes within Jalingo and at Bakin Dutse, Ardo-Kola LGA to examine the level of success recorded so far.
