Gov. Kefas Donates relief materials to victims of Ussa rainstorms.

 


In a bit, to rescue some citizens from the pain of homelessness, the Taraba State Government has donated some relief materials to victims of rainstorms in the Ussa Local Government Area.


The government expressed sympathy and grief over the pain expressed by the victims whose rooftops were blown off at Ussa Local Government during a stormy rainfall.


Material distributed were mats, blankets, wrappers, children's wear as well as consumable items such as rice, spaghetti, and cash gifts. Presenting the items on behalf of the governor, the commissioner of Social Justice and Reintegration Dr Filister Musa said the government of Dr Agbu Kefas would continue to give succour to the victims of any disaster to avert the suffering undue emotional and economic crisis.


Dr. Filister Irarimam Musa said the government felt pained by the displacement and harrowing conditions the victims are subjected to, urging them to keep faith that the current government is capable of improving their well-being.


The commissioner said, "The natural disasters that happened to the people of Ussa were very painful and sad. It was sad having the building blown off and destroyed, with hundreds rendered homeless. The experience was painful to the government.

"As a government that is determined to lift the well-being of our people, we acted swiftly and collated the victims' names. We couldn't have allowed our people to go into distress, that is why we accord this priority.


"Let us try and maintain peace and be calm even when a situation like this happens. We appreciate our pragmatic governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, for acting swiftly to palliate the suffering of the people who were caught on the web of this rain storm. 


"Disaster like this is preventable by planting trees around our building to break any destructive wind from having its way. Let us also try and look into our buildings by repairing areas suspected to be weak before the commencement of the rainy season. 


"I charge you to use these materials judiciously for the purpose they were meant for. The Kefas-led administration is ready to support any citizen who has a genuine challenge to put a smile on the faces of people. "


Meanwhile, the chairman of Ussa Local Government Amb. Shenwun Peter ably represented by the Secretary of the Local Government Mrs Irikwe'ka Riki, applauded the government for the show of concern about the plight of the victims, with a quick presentation of relief materials to rebuild their damaged property.


Peter described the gesture as signposting that Dr Agbu Kefas's administration is masses-oriented and demonstrates enormous respect for the sanctity of lives


Speaking during the occasion on behalf of the traditional leaders, Kwe Ando Madugu In a goodwill message to His Excellency, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Dr Agbu Kefas for his prompt intervention to individuals whose buildings were wrecked by the rainstorms.


Collaboratively, a clergyman Pastor Nzunde Shamaki applauded the governor for his kind gestures and prayed God to reward him with wisdom and knowledge to excel in his administration


Present to witness the event are the council leader, councillors of various wards, top government officials and other community leaders.
