 PRESS RELEASE BY THE NATIONAL PRESIDENTS, KARIMJO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION

AND

WURKUN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (WCDA) 

TODAY WEDNESDAY 1ST NOVEMBER, 2023

We are mandated by the leadership and members of the 13 man committee each from the Karimjo and Wurkun Communities constituted by the Taraba State Government on the crisis between Karimjo and Wurkun communities to issue out this PRESS RELEASE.

1. The Karimjo and Wurkun communities appreciate His Excellency, the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas for his fatherly intervention in the crisis that erupted between the two communities which brought about normalcy.

2. The two communities wish to assure His Excellency that the 26 man committee constituted by His Government which he the Governor added responsibility to the committee to serve as a STANDING PEACE COMMITTEE will diligently ensure peaceful co-existence among the communities by adhering to the peace accord reached.

3. To the KARIMJO and WURKUN who have chosen social media or conventional media to propagate liars, instigate fake information and news on the recent crisis, should desist henceforth, as anyone caught spreading false, instigative information, and fake news will squarely be dealt with.

4. The peace committee wish to call on well-meaning organizations, authorities and institutions wishing to add voice to the peace initiatives of His Excellency on the crisis should please invite and involve the community presidents in such a meeting or discussion. 

5. The peace committee call on all security outfits to decisively deal with anyone caught causing confusion among the two tribes.
