Taraba Insecurity: Kidnappers Kill Police Orderly, Abduct Council chairman

Kidnappers have killed a police corporal attached to the Chairman of Takum Local Government Council in Taraba State, Boyi Manga, while abducting the Chairman.

Taraba News learnt that the unfortunate incident happened in the afternoon of Sunday, 7 May 2023 on Chanchanji road near Agaraga village in Takum Local Government Area.

A police source told Taraba News that the politician was kidnapped and his orderly shot dead when he was returning to his LGA from Jalingo.

It was not known if before press time the kidnappers had already contacted their captor's family.

The abducted chairman’s vehicle, a Toyota Prado SUV, and the AK-47 gun of his security guard were reportedly taken away by the kidnappers.

When contacted, the Taraba State Police spokesperson, Usman Abdullahi, said he heard of the incident but he was yet to receive an official briefing on it. He promised to revert to our reporter as soon as he got the details.

Kidnapping for ransom is on the rise in many parts of Taraba State today, especially after the declaration of the results of the last governorship and State Assembly elections in the State.

Last week, a Toyota Hiace bus conveying passengers along the same road was stopped by bandits and two passengers were kidnapped.

Meanwhile, as reported elsewhere, gunmen invaded the home of a popular hotel owner in Mayo Dassa quarter in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, and kidnapped his wife, two kids and his domestic staff.
