Defence Headquarters Arrests Security Personnel for Aiding Terrorists

The Defence Headquarters has apprehended two security personnel accused of collaborating with terrorists in the North-East region. According to Major General Markus Kangye, the suspects were part of hybrid forces working alongside troops to combat insurgency.

The arrests were made during operations conducted from April 26-29 in Bama, Kukawa, and Madagali Local Government Areas of Borno and Adamawa states. The suspects were among four individuals intercepted for supplying logistics to terrorists.

The Defence Headquarters has condemned the actions of the arrested personnel as a betrayal and urged commanders to sensitize personnel against sabotage. Recent operations have yielded significant successes, including the neutralization of terrorists, rescue of kidnap victims, and recovery of arms and ammunition.

In a separate development, troops have also disrupted oil theft in the Niger Delta, recovering stolen crude oil, diesel, and petrol, and destroying illegal refining sites.
