Wukari, Taraba State – The Taraba Youths Transformation Initiative has expressed deep concern over the continuous killings of innocent citizens along the Wukari-Jootar road, calling for urgent intervention by security forces.
In a statement issued by the group, they lamented the rising insecurity in the area despite the heavy presence of security checkpoints. They specifically urged the Brigade Commander of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, to take decisive action to curb the violence.
“This call has become necessary due to the alarming level of insecurity along the Wukari-Jootar road. Innocent citizens are being attacked and killed, yet there seems to be no effective response to the situation,” the statement read.
The group further highlighted the need for improved intelligence gathering, enhanced patrols, and stricter measures to secure the route, which is a major link between Taraba and Benue states.
While security agencies have been deployed in the region, recent incidents indicate a growing concern among residents and travelers. Just last week, another attack reportedly claimed multiple lives, raising fears of an escalating crisis.
The Taraba Youths Transformation Initiative called on the government, traditional rulers, and community leaders to collaborate in tackling the menace before it spirals out of control.
