Unlike any other profit making organisation, the National youth Council of Nigeria generally is build under a compose and conscientious operation and never deviating from it constitutional module.
His Youthfulness, Prince Gara led NYCN Executive Taraba State chapter is not that of an eye service but underground strategic efforts for Robustful, Classical and Resultful towards practical benefit of Taraba youths and it is flourishing for the time being of less than 3 years in active charge of the youth activities.
The Prince Gara led executive came to the council with four (4) Agendas. Which he tagged "An adventure in redefining the perspective of youth in Taraba".
1. To ensure the parallel youth group in the state is unified under one Umbrella and "that has been achieved".
2. To create good image and working relationship with the Government of the day. "It's a reality today and progressive"
3. To engage in good consultations and lobbying towards enabling and attracting benefit and appointment in the Government for teeming Taraba youths which "to the glory of God we have gotten that, even never like before and still counting".
4. Lastly is to Participate actively in the National and yes we did. "Our Chairman is today the Deputy Chairman of the Forum of Chairmen and the Chairman of the 19 Northern State of the country".
However, because of the crisis the youth leadership underwent recently before stabilizing, certain activities has to be strategic to let everyone heal of his/her wounds to foster a greater formidable United Taraba youth.
The led NYCN by Gara Nongha stood strong to ensure they bring about the end to the major division caused by the previous administration in the youth constituency by ensuring the law establishing the rivalry youth group called the (TYC) Taraba Youth Council is repealed through the state House of assembly. (I hope you know the magnitude of achieving this!).
While in recent time, one of the Council's major achievements under Prince Gara is the decisive efforts in positioning and pushing through approval of the Governor, His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas which has resulted to youths traveling to China for effective training in different areas on youth empowerment and development.
For the first time, it is evident the chairman and other few selected youths participant are undergoing the training currently in China.
This program of activities is proposed to be in batches and it's strictly design for young people and it is going to be continuous God's willing.
The voice of the NYCN cannot be taken away from the galore of youthful inclusion in position/helm of affairs in the present administration. Through the council, the grounds that Prince Gara has established in portraying the potential of Taraba youth has change the perception earlier perceived about the youth of the state.
This was made possible when the council engaged relevant stakeholders in raising cases for the youths. Today good numbers of youths are in the state executive council and other juicy appointments. This shows the results of the council National executive visit to the Present Governor H.E Dr. Agbu Kafas when he was Governor elect where he consented and voiced out his intentions to make seventy percent (70%) of his Cabinet youths.
It takes a pragmatic, ear-giving and observing Governor to sacrifice and take such a decisive position to give the youth a trial.
Getting our teeming youth engage through various affairs of things has reduced restiveness to the minimal whirls providing hope to every teeming youth in the state that he could also be something, someday sooner.
Again, the council's wisdom in handling issues birthed visible inclusion of youth representatives in virtually all committees established by the state government for youthful representation. The Chairman while in Operation as a member of the State Tractor distribution committee has aided few youth to meet up conditions of accessing Tractors for their farm activities as well as fertilizers.
It is also a worthy point of note, that the Prince Gara led NYCN executive under the council organised the first ever (5 youths per LGA) heart-to-heart interactive session between the Executive Governor, Top Government officials, 16 LGA Chairmen and youth of the state where many of the suggestion from the youth are taken into consideration. One of which is the Establishment of youth mental Sensitization Committee and creation of Taraba State Youth Development Agency among others.
Also at a time insecurity was alarming; kidnapping, phone snatching, injuries even deaths within Jalingo metropolis and neighbouring villages. In keying into the Governor's efforts to address the menace, Prince Gara led NYCN executive visited all security agencies in the state in such regards and assuring the availability of any support from the youth constituency accounting that the youth are mostly affected in either side as result of such uncivil acts occasioned by the perpetrators.
It is not still out of date, when Gara led NYCN organised a prayer and breaking of Ramadan fast where both Muslim and Christian faithful youths came together in unity for the progress of Taraba at large.
The Kakara community in Sardauna LGA won't forget the efforts of NYCN under Gara's leadership when the council visited the community to assist indigent students with writing materials, instructional materials, first aide box and equipment among other valuables encouraging them to move on amidst prevailing challenges for what lies ahead is greater.
I can go on and on to mention. Nevertheless, we are guided by the consciousness that, in a society where the love for media outing is taken the place of sincerity of purpose, an empty drum takes lead in making the loudest noise without positive impact.
I know people tune more to media outing for update and awareness, but of recent the media has been abused and manhandled. NYCN Taraba under Prince Gara is result oriented.
As the Head of Publicity Organ and image maker of the council with wealth of experience in public relations,.. the chairman's orientation is different and strategic.
His innovation and ideas differs from the old. He will always say to me, the media work will come when our efforts are already making impact not telling what we may not end up achieving. We want to impact the youth and the state not to impact the Media. misleading the people who have confidence on us is not ideal. I always quote his purposeful words.
At this point, let me also draw the attention of the public to the National Youth Policy which gives the council power to support any government in power. The council aligning with Gov Agbu Kefas administration is to create a relationship that will benefit the youth Constituency which is evidently and perfectly paying.
