Contrary to the earlier statement by Taraba News, which indicated that the Commissioner of Information and Reorientation would be given an award alongside the Governor, the Chairman of the organizing committee stated that the Commissioner will serve as the Chief Host of the event. He mentioned that the Governor will not be paired with any other member of the State Executive Council, as the Union will be awarding the Governor for his efforts in security. Taraba News has previously reported that the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Taraba State is preparing to host what is considered one of the biggest events in the history of Taraba State after 10 years. The NUJ Press Week is a one-week-long event that will see the members of the press interacting with the public and hosting major activities for an entire week. The event will commence on the 11th of April and run until the 17th of April 2025, with activities that will primarily focus on the press profession. The event will feature a Muslim prayer on Friday, April 11th, and a church service on Sunday. Other scheduled events for the week include a press conference on Monday, followed by a medical outreach at the NUJ Press Centre specifically for the members of the Union. There will also be a novelty football match with a grand finale of the event on Friday. According to the Central Planning Committee of the event, led by the Union Vice Chairman, the theme of the Press Week is *NUJ at 70: The Journey So Far*. The event will feature a lecture on this theme by Shaibu Lemon, one of the long-serving secretaries of the Union. One of the major highlights of the event is the presentation of awards to well-deserving individuals. Some of those receiving awards include the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, who is being honored as the Security Man of the Year. Gov. Kefas is being awarded for his role in improving the security of life and property across Taraba State. Another awardee is Rt. Gen. Aliyu Faransa, who is being recognized for his historic role in enhancing IGR in Taraba State as the Chairman of the Taraba State Board of Internal Revenue. Lastly, Dr. Aisha Adamu, the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre Jalingo, is being awarded for her leadership in providing excellent medical services among others.
