HONOURABLE DOCTOR TAFARKI AGBADU ENEME: A VISIONARY LEADER TRANSFORMING KURMI LOCAL GOVERNMENT BY REJOICE USENI YARO.

 



Taraba State, endowed with vast natural potentials and raw talents that play out even in the form of human is often described as Nature’s gift to the nation. With political leaders who are poised towards transforming the State to a dream come true for Tarabans, some names that command respect and admiration is Honourable Tafarki Agbadu Eneme. He is a seasoned politician, a distinguished veterinarian, and a selfless community developer, who has dedicated his life to serving his people with passion and integrity.

Born into the royal family of Eneme in Kurmi Local Government, Hourable Tafarki Agbadu Eneme began his early education at LEA Primary School, Ndaforo, before proceeding to Government Secondary School, Ganye, where he completed his studies between 1975 and 1980. His passion for knowledge and excellence led him to the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, DVM in 1988. Not one to rest on his laurels, Doctor Tafarki Agbadu Eneme pursued further studies at the University of Maiduguri, earning a Master’s degree MSc in Veterinary Parasitology in 1998 to 2001.  He is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, further strengthening his expertise in veterinary sciences.

Honourable Tafarki Agbadu Eneme career began in veterinary medicine, where he quickly rose through the ranks due to his dedication and expertise. He served as a Veterinary Officer in charge of NURI VOM, Jos, Plateau State, where he played a critical role in improving livestock health and agricultural development. His transition into politics was driven by a desire to bring development to his people, and in December 2014, he was appointed as the Commissioner of Health in Taraba State. His brief but impactful tenure ended in May 2015, but his contributions did not go unnoticed as he was subsequently appointed as Commissioner of Works and Transport in year 2015 to July 2018. 

In 2019, buoyed by the trust and support of his people, Honourable Tafarki Agbadu Eneme contested and won a seat in the Taraba State House of Assembly, representing Kurmi Constituency. His impressive track record earned him re-election in 2023, solidifying his place as one of the most effective legislators in the state’s 10th Assembly. Unlike many politicians who focus solely on legislative duties, Doctor Eneme has taken a hands-on approach to community development, implementing numerous projects that have directly improved the lives of his constituents.

One of his most significant contributions has been in education. Understanding that education is the foundation of development, he renovated a six-classroom primary school in Didan. He has also provided scholarships to top-performing students in government schools, and registered JAMB for students in his constituency and beyond.

Infrastructure development has also been a top priority for him. He reconnected the Bente-Galia broken bridge, restoring a vital link between Ndola Land and Baissa, and constructed a 2,500-capacity town hall in Abong, which has become a hub for Tigun cultural activities. In a bid to boost local commerce, he built 12 lock-up shops in Baissa Town, providing business spaces that have stimulated economic activities and increased revenue generation.

Identifying that access to clean water has been a challenge in many parts of Kurmi Local Government, Doctor Tafarki Agbadu Eneme has tackled this by drilling over eight new boreholes and rehabilitating 42 non-functional ones. His humanitarian approach has earned him the title “Mr. Integrity”.

Other notable achivements are facilitating MTN network connections in over nine communities and his investment in road infrastructure has transformed the Eneme community road, linking the people of Eneme to Gidan Makeri-Abong and Ndaforo-Baissa.

Beyond his legislative duties, Doctor Tafarki Agbadu Eneme is deeply rooted in cultural preservation and community engagement. His contributions to the Tigun people earned him the revered title of "Nkokoh Tigun", which translates to "Defender and Protector of the Tigun People". This recognition underscores his unwavering commitment to uplifting his people, preserving their cultural heritage, and advocating for their needs at the state level.

Despite his demanding schedule, Honourable Doctor Tafarki Agbadu Eneme remains a dedicated family man. He is married to Mrs. Emily T. Agbadu, and together they have built a home centered on love, discipline, and mutual respect. 

Many in Taraba State describe him as not just a politician but a symbol of transformational leadership and selfless service. His achievements which have garnered their call for him to the Green Chambers speak for themselves. Whether in education, infrastructure, economic development, humanitarian services, or cultural preservation, he has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to progress and development.

As he continues his political journey, one thing is certain, Honourable Doctor Tafarki Agbadu Eneme is not just leading; he is inspiring a new generation of leaders who will prioritize service over self-interest, development over division, and integrity over personal gain.
