Governor Agbu Kefas has reiterated his administration’s commitment to working closely with religious bodies to ensure peace and foster the development of Taraba State.
Speaking through his Special Adviser on Muslim Religious Affairs, Hussaini Ismaila, at a one-day summit organized for Islamic scholars, Chief Imams, and other Islamic groups across the sixteen local government areas, the Governor emphasized his administration’s inclusive approach to governance.
The summit, tagged “Faithful Gathering”, was organized by the Office of the Special Adviser on Muslim Religious Matters in support of Governor Kefas’s visionary leadership and commitment to good governance.
Hussaini Ismaila highlighted the Governor's efforts to support the Muslim community, noting that upon assumption of office, many Muslims were sponsored to perform the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. He also recalled that Governor Kefas personally broke fast with less-privileged members of the society during Ramadan, a historic first in the state.
In terms of security, he stated that under Governor Kefas's leadership, kidnapping and other criminal activities have significantly declined, bringing renewed peace to the state.
On education, the Special Adviser affirmed that the free education policy remains firmly in place. He noted that the government has paid for NECO and WAEC examinations and has reduced school fees in higher institutions to make education more accessible.
Hussaini Ismaila further called on Islamic clerics to continue praying for the Governor’s success, emphasizing that the administration had ensured more political appointments for Muslims and that Governor Kefas treats all citizens equally, without regard to religious differences.
The summit also featured presentations by clerics, who stressed the importance of being one another’s keeper and promoting religious tolerance for a peaceful and united Taraba State.
