The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Taraba State is preparing to host what is considered one of the biggest events in the history of Taraba State after 10 years.
The NUJ Press Week is a one-week-long event that will see the members of the press interact with the public and host some major activities for a whole week.
The event will commence on the 11th of April and run until the 17th of April 2025, with activities that will basically focus on the members of the press profession. The event will feature a Muslim prayer on Friday, the 11th, and a church service on Sunday. Other events fixed for the week include a press conference on Monday, followed by a medical outreach at the NUJ Press Centre particularly for the members of the union. There will also be a novelty football match with a grand finale of the event on Friday.
According to the Central Planning Committee of the event led by the Union Vice Chairman, the theme of the Press Week is *NUJ at 70: The Journey So Far*. The event will feature a lecture on the theme of the Press Week by Shaibu Lemon, one of the long-serving secretaries of the Union.
One of the major highlights of the event is the presentation of awards to some well-deserving individuals.
Some of those to receive the award are the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, as the Security Man of the Year. Gov Kefas is being awarded for his role in the improvement of security of life and property across Taraba State.
Another awardee is Rt Gen. Aliyu Faransa who is been awarded for history role in the improvement of IGR in Taraba State as the chairman of the Taraba Stage board of internal Revenue.
Another awardee is the Hon. Commissioner of Information and Reorientation, Barr Zainab Usman Jalingo. She is being awarded for her role in information management and how she has sold the Taraba brand along with her efforts in the promise of the activities of Gov Kefas, Barr Zainab is know for hardworking, commitment and dedication to duty, she has demonstrated unusual capacity as a commissioner.
Also, Dr. Aisha Adamu, the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre Jalingo, is being awarded for how she has led the hospital in the provision of excellent medical services.
