SOUTHERN CONFERENCE OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH CONDEMNS VIOLENT ATTACK ON THEIR BISHOPS AND MISSIONARIES

- The Southern Conference of United Methodist Church has strongly condemned the brutal attack on its Bishops, Missionaries from the USA, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and church fathers within Nigeria. The incident occurred on March 25, 2025, at Karim Maundi, Karim Lamido.

In a statement issued by the Dean of Cabinet, Rev. Dr. Philip Micah Dopah FIMA, the Conference described the attack as "heinous," "satanic," "barbaric," "manipulative," "ungodly," and "unethical." Rev. Dr. Dopah emphasized that this assault is not only an attack on their leaders but also an affront to  Evangelism and the fundamental principles of their faith.

"We are deeply saddened and outraged by this senseless act of violence," Rev. Dr. Dopah said. "We condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms and call on the perpetrators to come forward, confess their sins, and face divine justice."

The Southern Conference of United Methodist Church has called upon traditional title holders, local government authorities, state and federal security operatives to conduct a thorough investigation, identify the sponsors behind the attack, and bring them to justice.

"We urge the authorities to leave no stone unturned in their investigation and to ensure that those responsible for this heinous act are held accountable," Rev. Dr. Dopah stated.

In a message of solidarity, Rev. Dr. Dopah assured the Bishops and Missionaries that their reward is great in heaven, and they have been counted worthy to suffer for the sake of the gospel.

"We stand with our leaders and reaffirm our commitment to advancing the kingdom of God, despite the forces of darkness that seek to hinder us," Rev. Dr. Dopah declared. "We will not be intimidated, and we will continue to shine the light of truth in the face of evil."

The Southern Conference of United Methodist Church prayed for God's mercy on the perpetrators and for His continued guidance and protection as they strive to fulfill their divine mandate.

"We will continue to pray for the perpetrators, that they may repent and turn away from their evil ways," Rev. Dr. Dopah concluded. "We will also continue to pray for our leaders, that they may remain steadfast in their faith and commitment to the gospel."
