Taraba State University Jalingo Secures Landmark iDICE On-Site Evaluation

 


Taraba State University (TSU), Jalingo, has achieved a historic milestone as the first university in Nigeria to secure an on-site evaluation for the Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises Programme (iDICE).


Taraba State University (TSU), Jalingo, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first university in Nigeria to secure an on-site evaluation for the Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises Programme (iDICE).


The Vice-Chancellor, warmly represented by Prof. Jonathan Rubean, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Administration, alongside DVC Academic Dr. Ahmad Baba, Director ICT Prof. Joseph Uchenna Okeke, and other senior management staff, welcomed the evaluation team. The team included Mr. Suleman Babayo (NUC), Mr. Muhammad Ali (BOI), and Mrs. Wase Samuel Ahmadu.


In his opening remarks, Dr. Ahmad Baba, DVC Academic, welcomed the team to Taraba State University. He emphasized that the iDICE program aims to empower students by equipping them with technological and creative skills to foster innovation and support startups and SMEs. He added that this initiative aligns with the university’s vision of promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment. The DVC Academic Dr. Baba highlighted TSU’s commitment to leveraging the three key components of iDICE:


Skill and Enterprise Development

Access to Financing

Enabling Environment


He described the evaluation as a crucial step in positioning TSU as a leading institution in Nigeria and expressed confidence that this partnership would bring transformative impact to the university, community, and the nation at large.


Prof. Joseph Uchenna Okeke, Director ICT, reiterated that this collaboration would accelerate transformation at TSU by equipping young  between 18-35 years with capacity-building opportunities in technology and the creative industries. He led the evaluation team on a tour of the university’s key resources, including:


Skill Acquisition Center 

Faculty of Engineering Workshop

E-Library

Audio-Visual Laboratory

Mass Communication Studios

Theatre Arts Arena

ICT Centre


Speaking on behalf of the evaluation team, Mr. Suleman Babayo expressed his appreciation for the university management’s dedication to securing this partnership. He commended Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sunday Paul Bako for his leadership in driving this initiative. He further emphasized that Taraba State University is the first institution in Nigeria to secure this strategic partnership with iDICE. Mr. Babayo applauded the university’s commitment and tireless efforts in making this historic achievement a reality.
