Rev. Dr. Gideon Para-Mallam Calls on FG to End Leah Sharibu’s Seven-Year Captivity

Renowned clergyman and peace advocate, Rev. Dr. Gideon Para-Mallam, has renewed calls for the Federal Government to intensify efforts to secure the release of Leah Sharibu, the Dapchi schoolgirl who remains in captivity seven years after her abduction by Boko Haram terrorists.

Leah, who was kidnapped alongside 109 other students from Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State, on February 19, 2018, remains the only victim still held captive for refusing to renounce her Christian faith.

Speaking in Jalingo, Taraba State, during an event marking the seventh anniversary of her abduction, Rev. Dr. Para-Mallam expressed concern over the prolonged silence from the new administration regarding Leah’s plight.

The preacher passionately appealed to President Bola Tinubu and First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, to intervene and take decisive action.

Rev. Dr. Para-Mallam also called on the international community to intensify diplomatic efforts to secure Leah’s release and urged members of Boko Haram to act with compassion and humanity.

He further commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their continued efforts in combating terrorism and encouraged them to remain steadfast.
