PSC approve promotion of 6,618 senior Police officers including, 1 DIG, 4 AIGs, 3 CPs

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of new Commissioners of Police for Taraba and Anambra State Commands.

Chukwudi Chris Ariekpere from Abia State has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police for Taraba State, taking over from CP Peter Oparah. Similarly, Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu from Bayelsa State will head the Anambra State Command, succeeding Obong Nnache Itam.

The Commission Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd.), urged the newly appointed Commissioners to quickly settle into their duty posts and maintain order. He emphasized the importance of ensuring there is no security gap that could lead to a breakdown of law and order.

Argungu charged the new CPs to be dedicated and committed to their duties, contributing to efforts to rid Nigeria of banditry and other criminal activities.

“The Commission will continue to monitor their conduct and provide support to ensure they succeed in their new roles,” Argungu stated.

According to a statement by PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani, “The Commission’s decision has been conveyed to the Inspector General of Police for immediate implementation.”
