FG to Generate N4bn from Kashimbilla Cargo Airport Concession




The Federal Executive Council has approved the concession of the Kashimbila Integrated Cargo/Agro-Allied Airport in Taraba state under a Public Private Partnership arrangement. This development is expected to generate N4.1 trillion in revenue from multiple sources during the concession period.


The project, which cuts across agriculture, water resources, and aviation sectors, features the upgrade of an airstrip in Kashimbilla to a Cargo/Agro-Allied Airport. It also includes a combination of over 3,000 hectares of farmland, fish farming facilities, and a ranch for livestock farming.


The concession is expected to boost agricultural productivity by enabling year-round irrigation farming, create employment opportunities, attract investment in agribusiness, and stimulate local and national economies through trade and exports.


The Director General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Jobson Ewalefoh, thanked President Bola Tinubu for the speedy approval of the project. Ewalefoh noted that the project's facilities will increase Nigeria's potential to export agricultural products.


The Kashimbila project is located in Takum LGA in Taraba State the home town of General T. Y Danjuma who is reknown philanthropist and elder statesman, the project is aim to enhance agricultural logistics, improve market access, and stimulate economic development. With the concession, regional integration will be enhanced as Taraba state will be connected to national and international markets, facilitating trade, and creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs.


The project's financiers and facilitators played a crucial role in its development. The ICRC, as the regulatory agency, provided guidance and oversight throughout the concession process. The Federal Ministry of Aviation, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Taraba State Government also collaborated to ensure the project's success.


The concession agreement is expected to be signed soon, marking the beginning of the project's implementation phase. The project's financiers, including local and international investors, will provide the necessary funding for the project's development.
