The police operatiives attached to Ibi local government area command in Taraba state on Thursday night rescued two kidnapped victims in Isini village in Sarkin Kudu in Ibi local government area of the state.
The Executive Chairman of Ibi local government, Alh Iliya Jibu who disclosed this to newsmen in Jalingo explained that the kidnappers invaded Isini village at Wednesday midnight and abducted a man and a woman respectively.
"As the chief security officer of the local government, when the information got to me, I ordered the deployment of the Police Personnel from the Ibi police area command who immediately swung into action and rescued the victims" he said.
He stressed that their rescue was made possible through joint efforts of local hunters and vigilantes within the village.
He hinted that when the kidnappers sighted the security operatives they abandoned their victims and fled away.
He added that the administration of governor Agbu Kefas has reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating criminal elements and restoring lasting peace in the state.
According to him, Ibi Local government will not be a safe haven for terrorists, stressing that he will continue to work with stakeholders to rid Ibi LGA of criminality.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, emphasizing that community cooperation is crucial in the fight against insecurity in the state.
