I write to my party, the APC of Taraba State, with a deep sense of humility. As a party, we possess some of the most formidable individuals within our ranks. We stand as the embodiment of the Renewed Hope agenda championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Taraba State.
It is imperative that we take decisive action to address our internal issues. The period of stakeholders convening merely to engage in superficial discussions, while harboring divisions beneath a facade of unity, must come to an end. We must confront the realities of the challenges facing our party and develop effective strategies to resolve them. The wounds from the previous congress and primary elections remain fresh and unresolved.
It is essential to acknowledge that, regardless of our preferences, we are divided at a fundamental level, and it is imperative that we seek to heal this rift and eliminate the barriers that separate us. The leadership of the party must urgently establish a reconciliation committee tasked with addressing the outstanding issues within the party, should we genuinely desire to restore order. This committee should be empowered to actively engage with the concerned stakeholders from the various factions and facilitate a collaborative approach to resolving conflicts among the different groups.
The committee ought to be authorized to actively interact with the stakeholders from the aggrieved parties across the various camps. It is essential to establish a framework for collaboration and to address conflicts among the different factions. Merely convening stakeholder meetings without thoroughly consulting the aggrieved parties may result in complications like that of the last state Congress and the 2023 APC primary elections crisis.
The leadership should sincerely acknowledge all members and work towards establishing a common ground, subsequently convening a unity meeting. This perspective, in my opinion, will contribute positively to the process of restructuring and revitalizing the APC in Taraba State.
