The Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Bali in Taraba State has constituted a seven man Disciplinary/Appeal Committee for the institution.
This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Council, Dr. Jibrin Saba Kolo on Thursday immediately after the 3rd Council meeting held between 16th and 20th of February 2025 at the Federal Polytechnic Bali, Rector’s Conference Room.
Dr. Jibrin Saba Kolo, explained that the formation of the committee was consequent to the directive given by the Federal Ministry of Education for every institution to put in place the Committee.
The committee has Engr. Sani Isa Abubakar, Deputy Rector as Chairman.
Other members of the Committee include Alhaji Umar Ibrahim Baba_ Acting Registrar, Alhaji Abdullahi Sada Inde, Mr. Ango Umar Jacob, Representing, Federal Ministry of Education, Dr. Sani Abdullahi, Chairman Actu and Hon Terkinbe while Barr Lawi Nickson Abanyi will serve as Member/Secretary
The committee is vested with the responsibility of entertaining disciplinary and appeal cases from individuals or group of individuals on any case [s] that such parties are not satisfied with an earlier disciplinary decision taken against such an individual or group.
The Committee can as well entertain appeal on already passed judgement on errand staff
The Council Chairman equally stressed that the Committee is different from similar committee already constituted by Management of the Polytechnic.
He commended the Federal Ministry of Education for initiating the Committee which according to him will go along way in ensuring justice, fairness and equity.
However, Dr. JIbrin Kolo, warned staff not to take the constitution of the committee as a licence for abuse of public service rules and established extant rules.
He therefore directed the Management of the Polytechnic to educate staff and unions on the rationale behind the committee for proper understanding to avoid abuse.
