1. University Funding: The Taraba State Government, through the University’s Governing Council, reaffirmed its commitment to improving funding in compliance with Taraba State Law No. 4 of 2008, ensuring the sustainable development of the institution.
2. Earned Academic Allowances (EAA): An initial payment of 10% of the accrued Earned Academic Allowances (EAA) has been made. Subsequently, 5% of the remaining arrears will be paid monthly starting February 2025 until all outstanding amounts are cleared.
3. Pensions and Gratuities: The government approved a State-Defined Pension Scheme aimed at ensuring the prompt and efficient payment of pensions and gratuities to staff.
4. Backlog of Salaries: A comprehensive template for clearing outstanding salaries will be developed and finalized by the first week of February 2025 to address arrears systematically.
5. Constitution of a Governing Council: The composition of the University’s Governing Council will be reviewed and adjusted to meet statutory requirements, ensuring effective governance and oversight.
6. Minimum Wage Adjustments: The implementation of minimum wage adjustments has commenced, with the government pledging timely and consistent salary payments moving forward.

Future Focus
The government intends to channel this genuine commitment towards addressing the concerns of the remaining two unions still on strike: the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU).
