The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has launched a nationwide sensitization campaign to address five critical issues affecting Nigeria's well-being, unity, and development. The campaign, themed "Promoting Awareness, Ethical Values, and National Development," aims to mobilize Nigerians to unite in addressing these pressing issues.
on the 12th December 2024, the NOA, a Nigerian government agency responsible for promoting national unity, values, and sensitizing the public on government policies and programs, organized a one-day town hall meeting with stakeholders in Jalingo, Taraba State capital. The event brought together security personnel, royal fathers, and other community leaders to discuss the five critical issues, which include security consciousness, shunning get-rich-quick syndrome, HIV/AIDS, tax reform bills, and human rights day.
In his welcome address, the Taraba State Directorate of NOA, Mallam Zakari Muhammed, emphasized the importance of discussing these issues with state stakeholders to ensure the messages reach the grassroots level. He urged stakeholders to help share vital information with the public and concluded by urging the public to be vigilant about their security, avoid get-rich-quick schemes, be aware of HIV/AIDS, know their tax obligations, and understand their rights.
The State Commissioner of Police, represented by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, and the State Coordinator of the Human Rights Commission, Yakubu Garfa Islam, emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in addressing the five critical issues affecting the community. They urged citizens to take advantage of opportunities provided by the government and other entities to address these challenges.
The stakeholders also stressed the importance of practicing responsible health behaviors to prevent the spread of diseases like HIV/AIDS. They encouraged citizens to reach out to their office if they encounter any challenges, emphasizing that the government cannot tackle these challenges alone. By working together, citizens and stakeholders can promote national unity, values, and sensitized the public on government policies and programs.
The General Manager of NTA, Mrs. Nihad Isa Umar, alongside security personnel, traditional, and religious rulers, commended the State National Orientation Agency for their tireless efforts in promoting national unity, values, and development. Their remarks acknowledged the agency's dedication to enlightening and engaging citizens with accurate and timely information.
The event featured an interactive session, including a questions-and-answers segment, which provided an opportunity for stakeholders to engage with the public and address their concerns. The NOA's nationwide sensitization campaign focuses on five critical issues affecting Nigeria's well-being, unity, and development. These issues include:
- Security Consciousness: The NOA is promoting security awareness and encouraging citizens to be vigilant about their security.
- Shunning Get-Rich-Quick Syndrome: The agency is discouraging the get-rich-quick syndrome and encouraging citizens to reject shortcuts to wealth and embrace integrity, hard work, and opportunities provided through government initiatives.
- HIV/AIDS: The NOA is promoting awareness about HIV/AIDS and encouraging citizens to practice responsible health behaviors to prevent the spread of the disease.
- Tax Reform Bills: The agency is promoting awareness about tax reform bills and encouraging citizens to know their tax obligations.
- Human Rights Day: The NOA is promoting awareness about human rights and encouraging citizens to understand their rights.
The NOA's nationwide sensitization campaign is a step in the right direction towards promoting national unity, values, and development. However, it requires the collective effort of all stakeholders, including citizens, government agencies, and private organizations. As the NOA continues to promote awareness and sensitization on the five critical issues, it is essential for citizens to take advantage of opportunities provided by the government and other entities to address these challenges.
By working together, citizens and stakeholders can promote national unity, values, and sensitized the public on government policies and programs. As the NOA's Director-General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, emphasized, "The government cannot tackle these challenges alone. We need the collective effort of all stakeholders to promote national unity, values, and development"
