20 YOUNG TARABANS BECOMES MILLIONAIRES VIA TECH INNOVATION

 



Over 20 Young Tarabans became instant millionaires as the state won first prices in all categories of the just concluded National Hackathon hosted by Taraba State Government. 


The Commissioner of Digital Economy and Innovation Hon Nonso Gideon said the  Hackathon has not only showcased the brilliance of Taraba youth but has also reinforced the importance of collaboration, innovation, and technology in driving sustainable development. He said his Ministry remains committed to fostering an enabling environment for tech entrepreneurship and innovation to thrive in Taraba State.


He express his deepest gratitude to Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas for the support and enable environment for the ministry to fulfil its mandate, he also appreciate, Algorand Nigeria for their invaluable partnership and support.


This year, Seasoned developers in blockchain technology started from 16th October to 9th November,2024.


The Taraba State Ministry of Digital Economy and innovation,  in partnership with Algorand host the first ever Hackathon at the Tim Royal Hotel Jalingo, The event wasn't just a competition; it was a vibrant celebration of creativity and problems -solving,  attacking tech enthusiasts and aspiring minds from across regions.


Digital transformation wave is sweeping Africa and Nigeria cannot afford to be left behind. 

Taraba State is therefore channeling strategic investments in education, digital literacy and blockchain expertise.


The mission is to empower young people with the intent to foster economic growth through technology.


Hackathons are rare opportunities where participants take innovation to a new height. 


They look to introduce new techniques standards or personal programming styles to progress on projects. This Hackathon is expected to place Taraba State in the global stage as a future forward state in terms of digital economy.


The Hackathon was open to everyone with a passion for technology. Some teams were formed, each with 5 to 7 members eager to tackle real -world challenges with innovative technological solutions.


The atmosphere crackled with focused energy as participants collaborated  throughout. Teams coded tirelessly, brainstorm ingenious ideas,and ultimately pitched their solutions to a panel of judges. 


From developing mobile applications to address educational access, agricultural issues, the ideas  presented were diverse and inspiring as the teams themselves.



Mr Onuoha Ben extend his gratitude to the good people of Taraba State and the Governor of the state.


He stated that the program is about laying the foundation for the future where blockchain technology plays a central role in the State's economy. Algorand is helping to build a robust and self sustaining blockchain ecosystem in Nigeria. More states are also expected to benefit from its technology transfer in subsequent programmes.
