Governor Kefas Inaugurates New State High Court Judges, Customary Court Judges and Board of Internal Revenue

Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas of Taraba State swore in newly appointed State High Court Judges and members of the Taraba State Board of Internal Revenue at a ceremony held at the Government House in Jalingo on June 19th, 2024.

The newly appointed High Court Judges are Justice Hamidu Audu, Justice Joel Daniel Ubandoma, and Justice Jennifer Bibonga Naoma. Meanwhile, the Judges for the Customary Court of Appeal include Justice Benjamin Samuila Abwage and Justice Esther Tata.

During the ceremony, Justice Hamidu Audu expressed gratitude on behalf of all appointees and sought prayers and support from all those who value justice and the rule of law.

In his remarks, Governor Kefas emphasized the importance of the judiciary in upholding the rule of law and urged the newly appointed judges to remain dedicated to their duties. He assured them of his administration's support and encouraged them to carry out their responsibilities ethically and in line with the law.

Furthermore, the Governor inaugurated the six board members of the Taraba Board of Internal Revenue, headed by retired General Jerry Aliyu Faransa. He highlighted the need for the board to explore ways to increase the state's internally generated revenue in light of the funds which have become grossly insufficient from the Federal government.

The members of both the judiciary and the Board of Internal Revenue were urged to work diligently to ensure that justice is not just a concept, but a reality for the people of Taraba State and explore all the avenues through which the internally generated revenue would increase for the state in the face of new minimum wages as clamoured for by the organised labour.
