The ongoing leadership dispute within the Taraba State Football Association has taken a new turn as the parties involved have opted for an out-of-court settlement to resolve the issue. This decision came after discussions involving the judge, the Attorney General of Taraba State, and all concerned parties during a recent court session.
Earlier, the Federal High Court in Jalingo has issued summonses, by Justice Salim O. Ibrahim to the Taraba State government and the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) amidst allegations of contempt of court. This legal saga, initiated by Pastor Victor Ando Andrew and three other plaintiffs, has taken a dramatic turn as the court delves deeper into the issue.
The court's order, delivered on the 24th of May 2024, set the wheels in motion for a showdown between the state Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Joseph Joshua, and the legal system. The crux of the matter lies in the alleged contempt of court by NFF officials and the Taraba State Football Association chairman, raising questions about adherence to legal protocols and the authority of court directives.

The judge has set a date for the next hearing on the 8th of October 2024, during which the court will assess the progress and outcome of the out-of-court settlement managed by the office of the Attorney General of Taraba State. Emphasizing the need for all parties to remain committed to an amicable resolution, Justice Ibrahim reiterated the importance of ensuring that the matter is resolved satisfactorily before the adjourned date.
