CAN Taraba State Chapter Condemns recent attack on Boys brigade members, Calls for Justice

 



The Christian Association of Nigeria CAN Taraba State Chapter has  strongly condemned the attack meted on some members of the Boys Brigade who were leading rally for the GCK Crusade of Pst Dr W F Kumuyi, at Donga bridge in Jalingo Taraba State Capital on Sunday the 17th of March, 2024.

 

This was contained in a press statement signed by Rev Dr Isaiah Magaji Jirapye Chairman, CAN Taraba State yesterday in Jalingo.


Even though the matter has been resolved and peaceful meeting held with the Muslim council. CAN deemed it fit to condemn the unfortunate incidence and put some record straight in order to avert future re-occurrence.


Taraba News gathered that the incidence occurred when some Muslims youth ambushed and attacked the Boys Brigade members at Donga bridge where some of them sustained various degrees of injuries while the following Boys Brigade instruments were damaged and missing

3. 3 Bass drum leather 

4. Tecno Pop 7 Pro

5. Tecno T4O5

6. Tecno Pop 2 plus

7. Tecno Smart 5.


While the following people were wounded, Cyril Sylvester, Fredrick Mikailu, Isaac Stephen, Precious Luka and Timothy John, all sustained various degrees of injuries.


However, CAN commended the Muslim council and the Chairman Jalingo Local government council for not only condemning the incidence but participated actively to ensure the matter did not escalate.


In addition CAN warned that it is not going to condone re-occurrence of such incidence or any attacks on innocent and harmless Christians doing their religious activities peacefully. 

It urged christians to let go of what had happened and embrace peace in love, forgiveness and unity as taught by the Holy Scripture and advises  them not to take laws into their hands in the name of religion.



Furthermore, the Association calls on the state Government to go after the perpetrators of this crime against humanity and fundamental human rights of others.  


Finally, CAN prayed for the quick recovery of the victims and appreciated all that took out time to visit the victims in the hospital with some financial and material assistance. Urging everyone to be calm in order not to disrupt the peace and stability of the state as HE Dr. Agbu Kefas is working hard for the next phase of Taraba State.
