UKWE OF TAKUM STOOL:Takum Youth progressive forum faults Kuteb group for seeking FG intervention

The Takum Youths Progressive Forum (TYPF) has condemned the recent call for FG intervention by a Kuteb socio cultural group known as Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria (KYN).

Saying that it  is utterly absurd for the apex Kuteb Sociocultural group to call on the intervention of the FG over an issue so petty as the Takum Chieftaincy. It springs surprise how some Kuteb youths and their elders are dissipating energies over the Takum Chieftaincy stool as if their lives are dependent on it.

This was contained in a Press statement released by Mr. Dauda Uten Kuru-apye the PRO of TYPF he emphased that

It is thought-provoking for a sociocultural group peopled by supposedly educated individuals  who could not only lose their sanity but resort to the lowest sphere of intelligence by writing to the FG over a chieftaincy stool issue that is the responsibility of a state government.

The TYPF claimed that the Takum chieftaincy issue has exposed Kuteb people alienation from activities of the 21st century. KYN's press conferences, rejoinders, and publications show they still live in the dark age, far from civilization and exposure.

“KYN should know that no tribe in Nigeria ever dares the power of a governor over a chieftaincy issue and go without bruises. For goodness sake, how can one wakes up one day to pick a King without consultation with the government through the Bureau for Local and Chieftaincy Affairs, but wants to force it down the government's throat to give the unilaterally installed King a staff of office and allied recognition at one's convenient time? Are there no procedures for handling such issues? In the case of the installation of Aku Uka and Gara Donga by the former governor, Arc Darius Ishaku, is it not verifiable that the two palaces alongside their kingmakers had communication with government authorities under the administration of Ishaku before getting the green light to pick the present occupants of two thrones in question?

It is incomprehensible why the KYN chooses to put the state government aside by constantly launching attacks on the governor, yet turns round to coerce it to do their bidding by fire, or by force. KYN should know that it is catastrophic to dare the power of a constituted authority, even if it makes itself out to be the best pressure group in the Northeast subregion.  “

However, TYPF accused KYN of consistently attacking the personality of the Governor of Taraba state, Dr Agbu Kefas, and that of the elder statesman, General TY Danjuma over a petty matter as it concerns Takum and its traditional matters. Even non-indigenes of Takum have started asking questions as to how education has not helped Kuteb people in their approach to issues.

But to think of this, What makes KYN think the FG will intervene, even if chooses to, without consultation with the state governor on how and why he intends to take the decision he wants to as alleged by KYN? Does this group consider how the government operates before setting itself at odds with constituted authorities at all?

Anytime they want to talk about this issue in the press, they link a global philanthropist and elder statesman Gen TY Danjuma to their ancestral woes. Funny how the KYN wishes to bamboozle the world believe them and reduced the elder statesman to a common inconsequential old man, although they are just exposing their ignorance to Nigerians, those who know who Pa Danjuma alongside his weight on the scale of the national limelight wouldn't stoop as low to such myopic-minded babbling! It is not as if the Chamba people cannot write or hire writers to keep responding to all these foolish publications, but have chosen the path of civility and maturity. This has often been the trademark of Chamba people anywhere in this part of the world. Very coordinated in approach devoid of senseless media war aligned to personality attacks and insults. This is how Takum Chamba approaches case on the Takum chieftaincy stool that led to the implementation of the 1975 gazette.

Meanwhile, Taraba News gathered that within the last week, the Kutebs and their KYN leadership have attacked the personalities of the state governor Dr Agbu Kefas,  Gen TY Danjuma, the State CAN Chairman, the Chamba people of Takum in their various press releases to hoodwink the government of the state from following due process in the selection process and appointment of a paramount chief of Takum

TYPF pointed out that In the history of Takum, the chief of Takum, Alhaji Ali Ibrahim was never installed through the unpopular and repealed 1963 gazette. KYN kept misleading unsuspected public with spurious narratives to whip up sentiments.the instant law, the 1975 gazette was challenged at the Federal High court to the Appeal Court. Yet the appelants lost at both cases. The appellants' pursuit was abandoned after they lost shamefully in 1979.

According to reports by TYPF, alleged that the Kuteb people having lost the matter, they resorted to backdoor methods and changed the title of the Chief of Takum to Ukwe Takum in 1981 to give the unsuspected public the impression that the stool in question is an exclusive reserve of the Kuteb. that’s why today, we have the Likam, Akenten and Achimam as the the only Kuteb clans in Takum occupying a single wards out of the 11 wards in Takum. The other 9 clans who are in Ussa LGA instigating and threatening the peaceful Likam, Akenten and Achimam to cooperate with them in maligning the constituted authority or face a dare consequences. This threat has put innocent Takum in jeopardy. Reports claim that the Kutebs have 4 chiefdoms in Ussa LGA, Viz:  Lissam chiefdom, Kpambo chiefdom, Kpambai chiefdom and Bika chiefdom.

On the other hand, The Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria (KYN), the umbrella body of the Kuteb people from Taraba State on Thursday said that the Kuteb people will not sit back and allow the state government to take the traditional stool of Ukwe Takum and hand it over to General TY Danjuma as compensation for his developmental strides in the State

Finally, Reacting to KYN, the TYPF  advised the Kuteb to go to court should they not be satisfied with the constituted authorities decision as democratic principle demands rather than resort to insult and constituting a social nuisance in the social media space today.
