The Governor of Taraba state, Dr. Agbu Kefas has said that his administration will soon launch an endowment and empowerment fund for the rebuilding of Takum and other areas affected by crises in the state.
Dr Agbu Kefas disclosed this on Wednesday at the Exco Chamber Government House, Jalingo while receiving the report of the visitation Panel set up to tour projects executed by Gen TY Danjuma in the area.
He added that friends and other well wishers will be invited to contribute to the rebuilding of the areas.
According to him, the gesture will bring about forgiveness and healing of wounds in the areas that have experienced conflicts.
Dr. Agbu Kefas said the time has passed when nothing good or positive is said about Taraba except negativity.
He solicited the support and cooperation of all irrespective of party affiliations to change the narrative about Taraba for the better.
Dr Agbu Kefas said many projects are in Takum and it is now left for the state to utilize them for the benefit of the people.
The Governor assured that his administration will do everything possible to improve the lives of the common people in the state
Governor Agbu Kefas also reiterated the determination of his administration to do justice to the people of the state and urged the people to embrace any positive change that will come their way.
He also disclosed that a five Star hotel will be built in Takum to provide accommodations for tourists who will be visiting the state.
He urged the Panel to plead with the families having lands close to the Gen TY Danjuma University Takum to sell it to the state which will be donated for the expansion of the University project.
The leader of the visitation panel to Takum, Dr. Emmanuel Lawson, while presenting the report, commended Gen. TY Danjuma for the conceiving the University in Takum and said when completed it will be a world-class institution that will impact on the development of the state.
Dr. Emmanuel Lawson said virtually all the projects cited by Gen TY Danjuma in Takum were meant to service the public and not for profit making.
The panel suggested that the Taraba State government should constitute a team to appreciate General TY Danjuma for the impactful projects cited in Takum which are beneficial to all indigenes of the state and Nigeria at large.
The panel urged the government to also create a forum or platform to bring together elites from Southern Taraba to discuss ways and modalities for lasting peace in the zone.
