Taraba State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Mrs. Augustina Godwin has warned Principals of public schools against illegal sale of WAEC forms. She made this known in an official letter addressed to all Principals of public schools stating that she has received credible information on illegal sale of WAEC slots by some Principals. She emphasized that such actions will not go unpunished and the process of collecting all relevant evidence is ongoing, those found guilty will face the appropriate penalties.
Meanwhile, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Augustina Godwin called on all the Principals to submit and complete all required tasks for the preparation of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) registration. She pointed out that it is imperative that these tasks are carried out without delay. She also stressed the need for them to ensure that all necessary documentation and procedures are finalized promptly to enable a smooth and efficient registration process. She will personally contact the Director of the Examination Registration Committee for an update on Monday regarding the progress on this matter.
Upon his Inauguration as Executive Governor of Taraba state in May 29,2023. Governor Agbu Kefas declared free Education from Primary to Secondary School Level in the state.As part of his free education policy, the governor hadsaid his Administration would pay for WAEC and NECO for all students in the State.
In the same vein, Taraba News released a publication on the 21st of January 2024 which showed that some School authorities seem to be sabotaging his good intention by demanding students to pay for registration of WAEC and NECO exams after Governor Agbu Kefas declared free education from primary to secondary schools in the State. Parents and Caregivers are happy because the governor has lifted a Heavy burden on them. in the past, many students have completed secondary school but were not able to sit for the Exams due to the poor conditions of their Parents.
Finally, she appreciated the principals for their corporation and admonished them not to relent in their efforts to uphold the principles of transparency and accountability in the educational system of Taraba State.
