The Taraba State Ministry of Science and Technology is working assiduously to provide enhanced and efficient technology solutions in Taraba State with the aim of stimulating economic growth through the development of industrial processes and machinery.
As part of this struggle, the Commissioner of the ministry, Hon. Muslim Usman Aruwan, has continue to seek partnership with related organizations and institutions. The Commissioner has today, 29th August, 2023 visited Advanced Manufacturing Technology Development Institute (AMTDI) Jalingo, to seek collaboration with the institution in areas of project advanced manufacturing technologies
This is the second tertiary institution in the state visited by the Hon. Commissioner since he began the partnership move. He had last Monday, visited the Taraba State University where he sought collaboration with the institution to see how it could partner with the Ministry of Science and Technology to improve the study of engineering courses at the institution.
Briefing our reporter shortly after his visit at the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Development Institute (AMTDI) Jalingo, the Commissioner said it has become necessary for the Taraba State Mininistry of Science and Technology to partner with the Institute since it is a flagship centre to pioneer and project advanced manufacturing technologies for adoption and domestication in Nigeria.
The commissioner said collaborating with the Institute would go along way to among other things, help put in place, all that is needed to aid in the training of Taraba State students in the field of Mechanical Engineering and other engineering related courses in the state's tertiary institutions.
"Advanced Manufacturing Development Institute (AMTDI), Jalingo is committed to its competence of capacity building and development in the areas of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) which encompasses the use of innovative technologies, software, computers and networks to produce and deliver value-added competitive products and services. That is why the Ministry of Science and Technology has deemed it fit to engaged this Institute in a partnership
"It is our earnest desire that our partnership with the institution, AMTDI Jalingo, would yield fruitful results so that Tarabans will feel the practical impact of Science and Technology on their daily lives in all ways in our dear state". The commissioner stated.
He further expressed the determination of the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, to transform the state through innovative ways and called on the people of the state to give the administration overwhelming support to enable it accomplished it set agenda.
Earlier, the Managing Director of the Institute, Christopher John, while receiving the Hon Commissioner, assured him and his entourage that Advanced Manufacturing Technology Development Institute (AMTDI) Jalingo, would continue to work collaboratively with the Taraba State Miniinistry of Science and Technology in all ways, especially in the areas of providing enabling environment and effective means of improving the study of Science and Technology among students in the state.
The Managing Director further called on the people of Taraba State to make use of the research works carried out by students at the institute, which are lying dormant, in order to solve some scientific challenges in the state.
It may interest you to know that Advanced Manufacturing Technology Development Institute (AMTDI), Jalingo was established in 2010 as Advanced Manufacturing Technology Programme (AMT-P). It is a center under the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), an agency of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.
It is however, now an Institute with a name change in 2021 after an evaluation of its excellent performance. The whole NASENI has also, now been moved to the PRESIDENCY due to outstanding achievement.
