The special task force committee members led by retired General Jeremiah Aliyu Faransa were at Gashaka Gumti National Park Serti, to inform the park guards on executive orders number three (3) and five (5) suspending mining activities and deforestation of the ecosystem of the riched natural resources.
The retired General said there is a need for the forest guards to intensify efforts in protecting biodiversity conservation in the interest of national development and state growth.
He said His Excellency Governor Agbu Kefas, is determined to change the narrative of the state from what it was to prosperity for everyone to benefit from the natural resources of the state advising them to never hesitate to report defaulters of the executive order in the interest of the state development.
Retired General Jeremiah Aliyu Faransa emphasized that there's a need for the forest guards to do everything possible to protect the Gashaka Gumti National Park Serti in the interest of the state and the country at large.
In his remarks, the Conservator of Park (CP) Ntui Asam Joseph who was unavoidably absent because of an official assignment in Mayo Selbe, represented by a senior officer of the national park Adepoju Samuel appreciated the special task force committee members led by retired General Jeremiah Aliyu Faransa for the sensitization visit.
He said the national park is a legal unit that is saddled with the responsibilities of handling defaulters of deforestation, miners within the game reserve, and those bent on destroying biodiversity conservation for prosecution.
He solicited a strong synergy of surveillance parol with other sister security operatives for the safeguard of the Gashaka Gumti National Park Serti.
Recall that the Gashaka Gumti National Park Serti has 6,731 Sq.km of land ranking it the highest in the federation as the home of biodiversity.
Meanwhile, the special task force committee members have arrested two Chinese nationals who owned a wood processing factory named Larievera Limited in Garbabi, Gashaka Local Government Area.
The Chinese have since been handed over to the command of the Nigerian Immigration Service in Jalingo, Taraba State.
