Prof. Sunday Paul Bako Is New UN SDG Global Advocate

 

Prof. Sunday Paul Bako has been inducted as the global advocate of the United Nations Development Goals (UN SDGs). In that capacity, he is already poised to kick off a Nature Science-Based Research for Sustainable development Center at Taraba State University.

UN SDG Network Ambassador, Dr. Amos Obi, presented the Certificates of Induction to Prof. Bako, who is also Vice Chancellor of Taraba State University, alongside two other UN SDG Global Advocates and staff of the University, Prof. Elkana Sambo Obadiah and Dr. Pumark Frank.

The induction, which took place on Tuesday, 13 June 2023 at the University premises, was attended by dignitaries and other UN Peace ambassadors, including with Hon. Evang Philip Munlip.

In the sidelines of the occasion, Prof Bako kickstarted the NATURE SCIENCE-BASED RESEARCH FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT CENTER at TSU.

The UN SDG is centered on creating solutions through Innovations and development to eradicate some of the man-made problems, especially in Education, Agriculture, and Entrepreneurship through the use of Digital solutions.

Dr. Amos Obi disclosed that the Vice Chancellor, Prof Sunday Bako would represent Taraba State at the UN headquarters in New York in July for a global event on sustainable development.

It could be noted that the UN has established a partnership with Taraba State University to bring other universities together to brainstorm and develop solutions to problems on Digital Education, Digital Agriculture, Digital Entrepreneurship, solar energy, and other sustainable approaches in line with the UN sustainable development goal.

The Vice-Chancellor in his acceptance speech thanked the UN for the recognition,  while commending the organization for their support towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
